PoolWeather
Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 9, 2026
This policy explains what information PoolWeather collects, why, and the choices you have. By using PoolWeather you agree to the practices described here.
Who we are
PoolWeather ("we," "us") provides a web app that gives pool owners a daily swim-condition forecast, a chemistry log, maintenance reminders, and a party planner. This policy covers the PoolWeather website and app at poolweather.com.
Information we collect
- Account information — your name and email address, and a securely hashed password if you sign up with email. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile image from Google.
- Pool details — information you enter about your pool: a name, a location label, approximate latitude/longitude (used to fetch your local forecast), volume, surface type, and sanitizer system.
- Pool activity — chemistry test readings, maintenance tasks, equipment notes, and any party plans or guest RSVPs you create.
- Waitlist email — if you join our launch waitlist, we store the email address you provide.
- Basic technical data — standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) generated when you use the service.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To generate your local swim forecast and swim score (your coordinates are sent to our weather provider for this purpose).
- To store and display the pool data you enter (chemistry, maintenance, parties).
- To send you essential service messages and, if you joined the waitlist, a launch notification.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the service.
Service providers we share data with
We don't sell your personal information. We share limited data with vendors that help us run PoolWeather:
- Vercel — website and app hosting.
- Neon — managed PostgreSQL database storing your account and pool data.
- Open-Meteo — weather forecasts (receives your pool's approximate coordinates, not your identity).
- Google — optional "Sign in with Google" authentication.
- Resend — sending transactional and waitlist emails.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time using the contact below.
Your choices
- Access, update, or correct your pool and profile data inside the app.
- Request deletion of your account and data by contacting us.
- Unsubscribe from non-essential emails using the link in those emails.
Security
Passwords are stored only as salted hashes, connections use HTTPS, and database credentials are kept in encrypted environment storage. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
PoolWeather is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above when we do.
